My wife and I are looking at moving to one of many areas outside of Springfield. Bolivar, Nixa, Ozark, Republic etc... possibly next summer. I spent some time out there last summer and saw a lot of nice areas that may work well for us. I was told by some of the different people I talked to that the area around Stockton Lake was a pretty windy area. Is this also true about Bolivar? I did not get to spend much time around the area but I do like the fact that it is close to Pomme De Terre Lake because we really enjoy camping & boating. But there are other reasons we like some of the other areas and they are not too far from other lakes.

Thanks

I live here and I don't think Stockton or Bolivar is any more or less windy than any other towns in this area. Bolivar is certainly close to both Pomme de Terre and Stockton lakes. This is definitely a great area for camping and boating!

Stockton Lake is the only lake in this part of the country to be wide enough and open enough for the wind to be a factor. Generally the wind around here is partially blocked by hills and trees, but Stockton Lake is bounded by comparatively low hills and is over two miles wide at points. This makes it a very popular lake for sailing.

Bolivar is neither more nor less prone to wind than the Ozarks generally.

I'd say they are all the same as far as wind goes. But what's wrong with wind? I really love wind, unless it's a cold wind!

Default Thanks

Thanks for your information about the Bolivar area. And as far as not liking the wind I don't mind a nice breeze but I lived in eastern Colorado for a couple of years and the wind blew there almost every day. To say the least I would hate to live again where the wind even blows half that much!! LOL!! Thanks again everyone.
