Some reputations are earned, and are not necessarily a result of big-town snobbiness. Did you ever see the movie, "Deliverance"? I applaud you for checking into this rumor before bringing your entire family.

um do you know something we dont know?

We have recently changed our minds about douglas county .. its to far from work .. when I posted this we were searching in regards to a farm and hubby would be farming .. times changed!

I went there to Ava and never did I feel scared or like my life was in danger .. I felt very at ease!

yea I seen some hillbillie things but hey im right out of St. Louis and I see it here too!
My hubby wears bibs ..so did most the men there my daughter tells her dad he looks like a lumber jack ..........so i feel we would fit in

the area was very peaceful .. full of nature .. not over Citified! (new word?)

Booger ville ..dualling banjos ... whatever lol ..

where i live now .. we have hollers and creeks ............ does that make me from boogerville too? and what is a boogerville.

I personally am not insulted by nick names of places ..... I find it rather interesting to hear of such things.

hey where I live .. is named after a cow - go figure! I find that interesting. My senior year in high school the local radio station came out and said ON THE AIR that he had to climb through the cow manure in our gym - Lots were insulted but he later explained that our town was named after cows .... while he was on the air all this was going on. all in fun!

Default Booger County

I too am from somewhere other than MO but soon will live there happily on the acreage we have purchased near Mt. Grove. I have been searching for the origin of the term "Booger County" but with no luck. I will be searching for the book "searching for Booger County". I find the area very interesting, beautiful, friendly and afordable for a retired couple. I wouldn't want to commute to Springfield however. Thats a long way and the highways are anything but streight.
