Try Centralia - 20 miles from the BIG city of Columbia (85K or so). The town is about 4K - and adorable, but accessable by 20 miles to all the comforts of a BIG city. The streets are lines with ol' time street lights. It's soooo cool!

Try considering the ozarks i lived in a very small town called Caulfield just and 15 miles outside of west plains. I was born and raised in this area so i know it like the back of my hand. their are alot of green fields in this area in the summer time and very very nice people. every body traets you like family and They are always ready to just sit and talk with you. For the boardem part if you like shooting guns going 4-wheeling and just off -roading it is a good place to go.their are more things to do in the towns around it like bowling or just going and hanging out but it takes like 30 to 45 min to get to the main towns. They also have alot of field partys in the spring and summer. The winters normaly get cold depending on whet you are used to. i Plan on moveing back their as soon as i get out of the navy to raise a family thier because of the people and land.

If your looking for a small town where you won't get bored, check out Clarksville, Missouri. There are lots of artisans here that you can watch them do their craft. There are glass blowers, pottery makers and wood workers and probably one of the best views of the Mississippi River with Lock & Dam 24 next door to the City Park. You can check it out by clicking onto, www.ClarksvilleMO.US You will not be disappointed. It is small town USA.

Consider Fredericktown...it has a quaint as heck setting with North, South, East and West main radiating off a beautiful courthouse.

The locals call it Mayberry...

I have lived in Small Town, Mo for a year and oh, the stories I can tell! There is a house calling my name at the moment that, given a few visits, could tell me enough for a series of novels! This is the perfect location for any writer!
