I don't understand this town. It has a large VA hospital and only 17,000 people and in the middle of no where. I'm 69 years old and I can get a VA loan and buy a nice house there and just retire in a slow pace town. It might be a good place to die. If I was to live there I might not ever leave. Just a small town to retire in with a VA hospital close by. If anyone knows anything about this town please let me know.

I'm not sure what you are asking here. Poplar Bluff is pretty much what it looks like. Your money will go a long way buying a house there. Lots of friendly down to earth people. Poplar Bluff straddles the border between the Bootheel and the Ozarks.

If you are asking why it has a large VA hospital, it is the only town of any size between Cape Girardeau & Jonesboro with the exception of Sikeston.
