I have been reading about it and I notice we sure don't have hardly any Sparrows around KCMO. Others as well.

How about you?

Yes, I agree.

Domestic cats that owners allow to roam free (and also don't spay or neuter) prey on baby birds (why they climb trees) has a lot to do with it.

Source: I've witnessed it more times than I can remember.

Since 1970 its estimated America/Canada have lost 29% of the bird population..thats around 3 billion birds...disease, loss of habitat, ect.

I get tons of House sparrows at my feeders.

I'm in the St. Louis area. We have a million gazillion House Sparrows. We have one little nest box, and they probably have eggs 3 or 4 times a year.

I'm not a big fan of house sparrows...but I'm thinking they're birds of opportunity...and in the suburbs (where I live) nearly everyone has a bird feeder or two...so it's pretty easy for them to feed. So maybe they like the suburbs better.
