"Home Growns" always have the key.....
I was really teasing about closing the gates...
Home for me is Georgia and I grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains. After the 1996 Olympics came the flood gates opened and everyone decided Georgia was the place to be. We had to move four times to try and escape the progress as they call it. We had to spend almost two years in Texas (DH job). I spent those two years praying daily to PLEASE let me out of there. We visited Missouri last November and fell in love. Reminds me of my home back in Georgia 25 years ago. DH begged for a transfer here and eight months later here we are.

We have met some of the most "beautiful" people here. So helpful and kind. We purchased and log home on five acres (marked that one off the bucket list). Waking up every day is such a blessing. Being here in Missouri is a gift from God.

Everyone see's our Texas plates and ask us "Why in the world, would you come to Missouri?" We just smile and say look around. Texas has NOTHING on Missouri.... We traveled the entire state and only San Antonio impressed us. Living there was an experience in its self.

Have I told you in the last minute how much we love Missouri?
You guys ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree (20 yrs/Branson)..... I'm living an hour away from the ocean right now, but the area is so over-populated. It would be great to put the mountains and the ocean in MO - then it would be perfect! But, we'd have a massive influx of people discovering how wonderful it would be to live there. I'd like to keep MO a secret---you know what I mean......

What I love about Missouri? Here goes... 4 seasons! The always changing weather, the beautiful Ozarks, driving through those Ozark Hills is absolutely stunning. The rolling hills of northern Missouri. Three hours from a lake, I can go every weekend. The "welcoming" of all the people, no matter what part of the state you are in. Strangers want you to feel at home in their place of business. My dad's family farmed in central Mo. most are still there. My dad and his sister are the only 2 that left the farm. But I love that "down home feeling" around the state. Food! No matter where you are the food is fantastic. Each area of Mo has their specialties, but alot of the best restaurants feature "down home like Grandma made" meals.

Last but not least, Mo is home. We moved here from Pittsburgh PA when I was 5. I still love PA and visit when I can, but can never wait to get home where I really belong. And I do have to agree with the comment, we are too far from the ocean, which I love, but disliked the state where we vacationed on the beach. So will settle for the good old Lake of the Ozarks!

What a wonderful answer, MrsMo! I think your name is very appropriate!

As for the ocean, it's overrated for me. I prefer a serene lake. I grew up in southern CA and spent most of my life within two hours of it, at the most...yet rarely went, once I was grown. There are several reasons but I won't mention them all here. At any rate, I would much rather sit on the side of a lake than the ocean...so after moving here two years ago, I haven't missed the ocean once. I apologize to all those who might be offended by that comment but what can I say? Like Popeye, I am what I am.
