FYI: An aftershock of magnitude 4.5 occurred around 10:15 a.m. so we may feel this one for a little while longer!

Check Shadow Caver's post and click on the first link. Very interesting info there. You can go to their site and report any occurrences in your area. We did. Amazing how many earthquakes in Alaska!!!

I slept through it but we did feel it here.

I didn't feel any aftershocks, though.

Thanks ShadowCaver for your continued information. Checked this latest one and filled out the repost. Interesting and thought it was pretty 'cool' to have felt this.

Cali, according to the news reports I have seen 5.2 will be felt further in this area than a 7 something in yours. The difference is the granite bedrock in this area of the nation. It transmitts the tremors better than the softer rock in Cali.

So stop pickin' on our 5.2, we are just happy it wasn't any worse.

Interesting stuff.

Just curious Shadowcaver, what would be going through your head(hopefully not a rock!) if you were underground when one of those babies started shaking?!

Default Interesting fact...

When we went throught Fantastic Caverns they talked about the "big" Madrid earthquake that made the Mississippi run backwards, and said that Fantastic Caverns made it through without breaking a single stalagtite or stalagmite!

There was a tiny 2.1 (I think) a few years back that was felt in Nixa, too! There were many 911 calls reporting what people thought were break-ins, due to things rattling around. The police officer I spoke to, said he didn't believe it until he saw ripples in his coffee cup! It's probably silly, but, I pay the extra $35. a year for the insurance....
