"Missouri voters approved an expansion of the state’s Medicaid program in Tuesday’s election, according to Vox’s partners at Decision Desk — making another success story at the ballot box for the program in a state where it had been stifled by Republican opposition.

The ballot initiative expands Medicaid eligibility to 138 percent of the federal poverty level (about $17,500 for an individual or $30,000 for a family of three) as authorized under the Affordable Care Act. An estimated 230,000 low-income Missourians will become eligible for Medicaid, though that number could end up being even higher given the recent job losses in the Covid-19 crisis. The federal government will cover 90 percent of the expansion costs; the state will be responsible for the other 10 percent.

The vote passed over the objections of Missouri’s Republican governor, Mike Parson, and conservative interest groups. Bills had been introduced in previous legislative sessions that would have expanded Medicaid, but they were ignored by the GOP majority."

Missouri is not as conservative as people think. We're just gerrymandered that way.

On the November ballot the "Clean Missouri" initiative will appear again--the same ballot initiative that voters approved two years ago. The Republican weasels in Jeff City hemmed and hawed and refused to implement a single word of it. They want to keep Missouri Dirty because they never met an ethics bill that they didn't loathe. They voted to place it up for a vote again with convoluted wording designed to trick us into voting against our own self-interest.

Huh? An outright majority voted for it. It wasn't a nail-biter either. It passed 670k/590k.

Perhaps I miss understood. I saw this not as how big money did anything. I saw this as how the US government allocated money being collected from the state level. We could partake in the distribution of the monies into local channels or allow that to be allocated to other states who are not driving as much contributions. That being said, I would much rather dictate where our money is spent than give than defer control.

i certainly appreciate if my opinions are influenced by outside sources and not ones I need to consider. Our goal should be to continue to enhance out lifestyle and the experiences of others.
