Well it’s been 5 years now since I retired and moved to South East Missouri from The suburbs of Northern California...
Went from 3 bed, 1 bath on 100x60ft lot to a twice as big 3/2 on 28acres.....
It’s been great, nice people, beautiful countryside, heck I’ve even got a little use to the humidity.. The cold in the winter is tougher on me than the humid summers.
My retirement money certainly goes a lot farther here than in Ca. We’ve met some great people who are very helpful in converting me into a country boy...
So far so good, only advantage Ca has is better weather and better fishing, but life in general is better in Mo IMO

I'm not the OP, but IMO...

No ocean, salmon runs, or Sierra in Missouri.

We do have some beautiful trout streams in Missouri, but not Sierra beautiful.

Not really familiar with "frog fish"
would that term include Walleye, Bass, Trout, Catfish, and Pike?

Fishing: I lived in Northern California and regularly fished the Delta, Berryessa and Clear Lake. Ocean and bay fishing too.
Where I live now, my home Lake is Wappapello. It fished pretty tough at least for me.
Oh, Trex, Frog Fishing is topwater for bass with a floating frog lure..

You may have done so already, but people seem to like the waters in south-central Missouri/northern Arkansas for fishing. When I went, I liked fishing the creeks in the area better than anything else, but part of that was for the peacefulness of it.
Reelfoot Lake over in Tennessee is also supposed to be a good one.

I didn't realize it's already been 5 years. If transplants make it 5 years, they're here to stay. And I didn't have any doubts about Cali Bassman. Glad you're happy with the decision you made.

Just wondering when Starbucks will set up shop in Ellsinore.
