NO TRACE FOUND OF PAIR WHO OBTAINED $15 IN BUS HOLDUP

Police last night still were on the lookout for two gunmen who boarded a bus driven by Roscoe Shikles at Moreau Drive and Moreland avenue and robbed him of $15 in small change early Sunday night.
Shikles, who drives for the Jefferson City Lines, Inc., told officers the holdup occurred about 7:30 pm as he was preparing to start his return trip uptown.
" The gunmen climbed into the bus as I was waiting for the time to start back," Shikles said and added, " I didn't suspect anything because they looked like regular fares to me."
As one of the bandits motioned as if to deposit fares, the other drew a pistol and ordered Shikles to put up his hands. They then took Shikles' money changer and a sack of additional change. Shikles said the bandits ran south after leaving the bus and that he believed they escaped in a car parked near the scene of the holdup. Shikles immediately reported the holdup to police and bus officials from a neighboring house. He said the gunman was about five feet, seven inches tall and was wearing a raincoat and cap. The second bandit is described as " red faced and drawn at the mouth."
Police cruised over the city looking for the pair after the holdup and last night were still searching.

He would enter a store, make a small purchase and present a check given by " C.D. Miller & Co.," alleged contractors, receiving the difference in money. The checks were drawn on the First National Bank, and were very cleverly executed. The swindle was not discovered until today, when the checks came back to the merchants. Several hundred dollars were secured by the man.
