A TRAGIC SEQUEL

Sedalia, Mo., Nov. 30.--Frank Dunton shot and killed Emil Meyers here Sunday afternoon. Last August Dunton's daughter committed suicide, leaving a note charging Emil Meyers with her betrayal.
The father was not at home, and did not return until Saturday night.
Sunday morning he interviewed two women who knew of Meyers' relation with his daughter and then went to the church of the minister who preached her funeral sermon. He then went home to dinner and then walked to Meyers' home. He called him out and told him he wanted to hear his side of the story of his daughter's death.
Meyers made a threat and Dunton shot him 3 times. Dunton is in custody. The sympathy of the community is with him.

Rich Hill Tribune December 3, 1903

Meyers had a bad reputation as a deceiver of women, and two deaths had been charged against him in the records of the coroner's office here, but he had always escaped prosecution. There will be some sort of prosecution of Dunton.
Dunton is an ex-convict, having been sent to the penitentiary for shooting a man a number of years ago in Morgan County.
