Fount Goode, a wealthy farmer and bank director, was found dead the other morning in the barnyard of his home, ten miles north of Cabool, with a bullet wound in his breast.
His son confessed at the coroner's inquest to having fired at his father, after having taken the part of his mother in a quarrel between the parents.

A MISSOURI LAWYER SHOT

Guy T. Harrison, an attorney and one of the best known politicians in southern Missouri, was shot and killed in his home near Gainesville, by C.C. Walker, a farmer. Harrison owned a farm adjoining Walker's. The men had trouble for some time about Walker's stock getting in Harrison's field.

HOG STEALING IN HENRY COUNTY

Windsor, Mo., Jan 1--- The city marshal, Mr. Richardson, arrested five negroes today, charged with stealing hogs from T.L. Elbert, a shipper of this place.
The five are, Monday Jones, Arthur and Elmer Bradshaw, Edward Goodie and James Bradley. Altogether they are said to have stolen seventeen head and it is reported that the six taken from the pen last night were brought to town from Elbert's country home in his own wagon drawn by his own team.

It stands within a block of the high school, and the thrifty owner charges visitors a quarter apiece for seeing it.

ENOCH BRADSHAW'S SENTENCE

Thursday afternoon about 5 o'clock, Marion and Bradshaw were brought before Judge Davidson for sentence. Marion pleaded not guilty, but was sentenced to be hanged on September 17, 1883. Bradshaw was sentenced to the penitentiary for life with three days of solitary confinement.

Arthur Simpson and Lon Turpin were arrested Tuesday charged with larceny from the home of L.A. Davis, 1223 South Eleventh, Sunday night.

W.A. Moskau's store, 2002 St. Joseph avenue, was robbed of an amount of goods Sunday night.

Arthur Head went to jail Monday in default of a $100 police court fine for carrying concealed weapons.

Raymond Warman, 18, was arrested in South Park Tuesday for passing a worthless check for $3.

A gang of hoboes on their way to Omaha on a Burlington freight were held up by another gang of hoboes at Nodaway Friday morning and robbed of what they had.

Oscar Miller pleaded guilty before Judge Utz Thursday to holding up T.H. Waller last summer, and was given two years in the pen.

Edgar Egger was fined Thursday $100 and given Six months in jail for assaulting W.A. Bennett last March.

Thieves took about $142 from the Del Monica tavern, 1400 Summit street, early yesterday. The thieves apparently entered through a transom and took the money from a cash register. Frank De Luna, 5515 Gladstone boulevard, is the owner.

POST OFFICE ROBBED

Two armed men took an undetermined amount of money in a holdup shortly after 2 pm yesterday at the Charles Nagel Postal Service branch office, 3415 North Kingshighway, St. Louis, police say.
The men displayed a sawed-off shotgun and a pistol and ordered clerks to empty two cash drawers.

The State Journal (Jefferson City) August 14, 1874 Pg2

The K.C. Journal of Saturday, mentioned the fact that George Dooley had killed James Allen at Carrollton, Mo.
We have information to the effect that Dooley plead guilty of murder in the second degree, on Friday, and that Judge Clark sentenced him to 24 years in the penitentiary. Here justice appears to have been in waiting, a murder was committed, the murderer arrested, indicted, convicted and sentenced within 40 hours. Dooley is now 26 years old, and bears the reputation of being a desperado.

FIVE YEARS FOR ROBBERY

Harry Collins and Charles Freeman, charged with robbery and being habitual criminals, pleaded guilty to the robbery in Division No. 8 of the Criminal Court Thursday and were sentenced to five years each in the penitentiary.
It was charged that they held up and robbed Joseph Cullinane of No. 1510 Wash street on December 23, 1900, taking $3 from him.

A horrible murder was committed in Johnson county on the 17th. Presley Manion, a citizen of Columbus, was shot by a man named Ward, a notorious bushwhacker. Ward is still at large.

Fulton.--- The first conviction ever gained in the Callaway County Circuit Court on the charge of perjury was reached in the case of James Wilkerson of New Bloomfield, who was charged with swearing falsely before the grand jury. He was given a term of two years in the penitentiary.
