We might be moving to the Ozarks next month and I'm looking for a midwife. I'm SO glad that CPM's are now legal, but I'm having a VERY hard time finding one.

The towns we're considering are West Plains, Willow Springs, and Mountain *something* (can't remember, but it's the same area).

I'm not willing to have a CNM or go to a birth center. I'll have a UC if I must, but I'd rather find a CPM. Heck, I'll even take an underground, non-certified, midwife (though if you know one of those she'd probably prefer if you PM'd me instead of listing her here).

Any suggestions?

My wife is a retired midwife (we're now in CA but moving to MO next year) who apprenticed in NW Arkansas (the Ozarks) many moons ago. I'll see if she has any suggestions.

I am looking for the name of my midwife who practiced in Mountain Home Arkansas in 1984. I am needing to get info regarding my daughter's birth for her passport because they are not excepting her birth certificate.

We have moved many times and I cannot find any records with her name on it. I birthed my daughter in the basement of a church in Gainesville, Missouri.

Thanks so much!

If you keep inquiring eventually you'll be referred to a CPM called Mary around the area you're looking. She sent us her paperwork but we decided not to use her because one, she is too young, and two, she requires the mother to see her back up ob/gyn. Charges $1,500 too. Better off with someone "non-certified" and truly experienced. Certification requires submission to the interests of unknown people and thus affects their performance and therefore the birth itself. Almighty God has never made midwifery unlawful, by the way. It's simply an act of love, and love cannot be regulated, regardless of what some so-called "lawmaker" saith.

(just realized this is an old thread)

Can these demanding people prove that your daughter is not yours? The burden is on them! (most people do not realize this)

The breath of life certifies the birth.
