My family and I are considering moveing to Missouri, probably some where in the north west around Stover. First of all my name is not shannah thats my daughters name. Anyway I am 40 years old I have a 2 year degree in welding and have welded for 3 years then my brother and I took over my dads farming operation and have been doing that in partnership for the past 17 years. I also have a spray foam insulating bussiness with my brother. Now with that said are there any welding jobs available in Missouri ? If so what pay scale might I be looking at ? What other type of jobs might I be able to get into? Are there railroad jobs in the area? What about state or county work? Thankyou for the information.

two major welding concerns in SW Missouri have just laid off a lot of people. you would likely have to find a niche. the spray foam may work out better, as there are few around, and few people around here anyway know the benefits.

Good luck with your move.

shanah - first welcome. What other interests brings you to Missouri? If anything else particular, that could help some of the advice. Also, and not to be nit-picky, but Stover ain't really in what I'd consider northwestern MO - its more of the central region... Anyhow, would believe welding is a fairly useful and handy skill to have, good in many small to medium sized businesses. But, also might be hard to just find such w/o scouring local papers of places of interest to ya. With some of the highway/infrastructure building that I guess is going to be taking place, maybe bridge work? MO has some bad/older spans that are in desperate need of replacement - that might be an avenue too. Good luck...

Good luck. From the experiences I have heard from others you may have trouble finding any work at all in Stover, especially as an outsider.
