What if Branson was annexed by Arkansas

Default Laughing my posterior off....

I have been reading all of the postings between C-Bassman and Curmmie...and laughing as I picture the parade. I've met Curmmie..and he will be a sight in heels! Then they can sign up for the Eureka Springs Ark. Gay Pride Parade (yes...C-Bassman...you aren't safe in Ark. either).

LOL LOL LOL

You will complain about these things. I guarantee it. Transplants ALWAYS do.

Well, I haven't met a person yet in the St. Louis, Kansas City, Jeff City, or Columbia areas that have complained about shopping and they are all in MO.
I have met tons of people in Springfield, Branson, etc..that are perfectly fine with the amount of "retail therapy" they can get here. I have also met tons of "transplanted" people who could care less about shopping..they are more interested in the lakes, the peace. Sure, there are a few that would like a Trader Joe's in Springfield (I'm one of them), but this is a store that is all over the several states in the US...not just CA. But there are two things we can all be sure of, there will ALWAYS be change and there will always be someone who complains about it irregardless of where they are from or what age they happen to be at the time.

Well, Missouri and Arkansas are pretty far down the list of destinations for ex-Californians. I bet the aren't in the top 20....We have already screwed up Oregon, Nevada, Washington, and Idaho just ask them.......
I am kinda dissapointed that Arkansas would have a parade though...
Now Rolla, Mo. on the other hand..........................

Eureka Springs is a great place to visit... It reminds me of the Cumberlands in TN with a culture similar to an Asheville. I wouldn't want to live there, though... Some of the retirees looked at me like I had two heads when I was walking through a local neighborhood

My last domicile, Austin, TX, was FULL of ex-Californians. I bet I saw 5-10 California license plates a day! Having fraternized with many Californians thought my days, most of them do/did indeed want to move to Oregon (this seemed to be the top destination), Colorado (only slightly second to Oregon), Washington, Montana, Idaho, or Austin. Most of them had little knowledge of Missouri besides the misguided belief that it is a "red" state (it isn't), it is flat, (it isn't), has a lot of corn (only half of the state), and that St. Louis is a burned-out and crime-ridden city (again, it isn't). Missouri is often lumped in with the "flyover states", that some seem to believe are culturally and economically inferior to either coast. Oh well, that way of thinking is their loss

If you want to read some Californian hate that would make even Ozarksboy seem like a friendly and accepting fellow, go read the Oregon, Idaho, and/or Montana boards on City Data.

Let's see being a native Cali person I remember when you seldom ran into someone who was from California. They were from Oklahoma, Nebraska, Missiouri, Texas, New York, Michigan, New Hampshire, etc...many moved from the dust bowl or points east to get away from the weather or get a better job. Does that mean that they screwed up California?

FYI...I lived in NV for 5 years before MO and never heard anyone complain about NV being screwed up by Californians. Real Estate prices yes, the state no...
