My husband and I are looking to move to Missouri. We would like to be close to a nice lake but in a town that has factory jobs. I don't know Missouri that well so I would like to know which towns to look into. How are they to live in? School systems? We are looking for rentals, prices, landlords, etc. Thank you!!!!

If you are looking for great lakes, I would look at Southwest Missouri. Table Rock is as beautiful as they get, blue water, however alot of traffic. We try to take one trip to Table Rock a year and spend the rest of the summer on Stockton Lake. Stockon is real quiet and has green but clear water. We enjoy Stockton because there isnt the partying and it is a great place to take the kids. There are alot of manufacturing jobs depends mostly on what type of town you are looking for. Carthage is a beatiful town but has some snotty people, Joplin is nice and has more activity, if you are wanting more of a country type atmosphere, look at Neosho. Let me know if you have any other questions.

thank you for the responses!! We would like to stay closer to the Lake of the Ozarks. We were kinda looking into Sedalia, Jefferson City, Eldon area. My husband works in a meat packing plant right now and would like to stay working in some sort of factory. What types of factories do any of them have? the school systems? we have two girls. rentals? we are coming from Nebraska so it's hard to find jobs and places to rent when we're this far away. We are coming down in May and then June a couple times. I'd like to know which towns would be the best. The good and bad of each....I really appreciate all the info and pictures if anyone has some. thank you so much!!!

There are not too many factories left in all of MO!, anymore, but the places you mention are great. You can certainly work in the beef industry. My dad ran Angus and we were always looking for help! There used to be more small meat processing plants, but many have folded or consolidated.

Default Look into Neosho

Even though Neosho may be too far out of the Sedalia - Jefferson City area you mentioned, give it a look. Neosho is a wonderful small community, of about 11, 300.

There are several manufacturing facilities here. La-Z-Boy builds there rocking chairs here and employ about 1,200 people, then there is Sunbeam, and Premier Turbines, which overhauls aircraft engines. There are about 6,500 manufacturing jobs in Neosho, so the actual employers are too numerous to list.

Schools are good and there are rentals in the area, although due to the jobs and growth they are sometimes hard to come by!

Also check out Joplin. It has about 50,000 people at night swelling to 270,000 durring the day. There are 3 major industrial parks. Factory jobs seem to be in high demand. Good area schools and the equal to big city shopping.... the only bad is, traffic sucks. good luck.
