I know the UFC is still a young sport. Yet it is the fastest growing sport out there.
My question is to those who know the UFC well, who would you say is the best fighter of all time to date?
I say Couture.

UFC Couture
I agee! I have one of the rarest items of Randy's. I'm going to put it on ebay soon.
Its his coaching green UFC season one Ultimate fighter tv show jersey. On the show he wore many different types, most had more then one made, but the one i have is super rare, because the ufc only made one and each fighter that Couture coached on season 1 signed the jersey, and couture signed it also. Someone from the UFC donated it to us to pay off medical debts. So far i had crazy offers. Might as well go with an auction though.
Its amazing what Randy can do at his age. No doubt he will go down as the best ever, heck he's already in the UFC hall of fame.

Gracie came onto the scene and shook things the heck up for sure. I watched all the original UFC championships and no one could beat him. He was awesome. He had true guts - going into fights against people who outweighed him so much it was ridiculous. He bet, and won the bet that not too many of the UFC fighters really knew good groundfighting techniques.
Shamrock I believe was more marketing and hype than actual talent and skill. He was among the very best at the time and one of the only really good ground AND stand-up fighters. I looked forward to his 1st two matches against Gracie, but was disappointed. He definitely had physical training which made him stand out among those who fought in the 1st few UFC championships - he looked like a great fighter for sure.
Couture is the best of all time. Especially considering that now everyone knows what needs to be done to be a top UFC fighter. The bar is raised in terms of physical conditioning, ground techniques, and standup techniques. Couture despite his age is the total package; and for some reason he's better than most of the field right now.
