A couple questions:

1. How safe is the area? Where is the closest troubled neighborhood? Is the airport area safe?

2. How are the expansion plans for Brookley Airport going? They have real estate they will sell or lease, and have sectioned the area off into parcels for development?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers.

Are you looking to live around Brookley? There are a couple of neighborhoods downtown, and every house (ahem, shack) has burglar bars over each window. Brookley is an industrial area, and not a place for living.

As for being safe, its the opposite.

1)Brookley Field is mainly industrial so I assume it can fall under the safe category. The closest troubled neighborhood is (the Down the bay community) and that community would impact the Oakleigh historic district which is an affluent district but they have no problems with the community. That community isn’t close enough to impact it.Brookly Field is isolated from that community and is definitely not that close to downtown to be impacted. There are safe neighborhoods downtown and historical districts as well. The airport area is isolated and gated so yes it is safe.

2) I`m not aware of any Brookly airport expansions . If there are any I assume it is due to the new and growing aerospace industry that is emerging in the city. The city and the Brookly Field area is getting ready for the 40 billion dollar tanker contract. That is why the Airbus center is down there now and is hiring and growing in the area.
The University of South Alabama own a large amount of land in Brookly Field .The University owns the golf course and a few houses in Brookley. The University has sold there Brookley property and the houses that it owns also. So I guess there are major plans that are planed for brookly for USA to sale it’s property. The Press Register didn’t mention who the university sold it to. And yes there are parcels that are sectioned off for development.
