I noticed that Mobile is the smallest in square miles but has the most population density out of the big four in the state.

Birmingham 149 sq mil with 1,619.7 ppsm

Huntsville 174 sq mil with 909 ppsm

Mobile 117 sq mil with 1,687.2 ppsm

Montgomery 155 sq mil with 1,219.3 ppsm.

Information came from QUICKFACTS.CENSUS.GOV

I guess that is why Mobile always felt more urban than both Huntsville and Montgomery even though the population of the three are similar. And Mobile feel just as urban as Birmingham(city limits only).

And the density should be taken advantage of by supporting better pedestrian and bicycling infrastructure! Mobile has an opportunity to move towards being like a Savannah, New Orleans, or Charleston if it plans it right.

I think Homewood might be the most dense in the state. It keeps growing, but it is hemmed in with no room left to annex thus further increasing density

Nuhall I totally agree with you man ! We need the leadership that will capatalize that.Sam Jones is all about job recruitment which is fine I`m not complaining about that.Mobile has great bones and great DNA(architecture, grid layout, culture, history). We have better bones than any city in this state in my opinion. We just need the leader that will have a plan to grab hold to it.

Home wood is the most dense town in the state with 3,000 ppsm. I was talking about Alabama`s four major cities (Birmingham,Hutsville,Mobile, and Montgomery).
