My husband and I may be relocating from the DFW/Tx area. He will be working in Mobile and I will have a job in Gulport. We are a young family with a daughter in elementary school. We need to find a nice place to live that will be a halfway point for both of our commutes to work. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I moved your post to the Mobile forum.. maybe someone here will have more info.

I love Mobile and if you live close to I10 then it would be an easy commute. You could check out Theodore, Codend or Bayou la Batre depending what you are looking for.

If you drive the speed limit like I regularly do, you'll find that it takes over an hour commute from Moblie to Gulfport. I think for a true midpoint you should be looking around Gautier, MS or so.

MapQuest says Mobile to Gulfport is 75 miles/1 hour 14 minutes. I suggest you avoid car pooling with PortCity.

From southwest Mobile the drive is about 40 minutes. If you want to get to the waterfront in Gulfport it'll indeed be longer. However, the drive is virtually all interstate and quite easy. I've done a number of trips from Mobile and Gulfport/Biloxi and they've all been relatively painless.

Southsky verified the fact that he was talking about two different cities, two different distances and two different ETA's. Plus, he's starting from Tillman's Corner or thereabouts while you're still in Mobile. And you backtracked your estimate several miles to Biloxi after originally saying Gulfport.

I recommend Ocean Springs. It may not be exactly halfway, but in my opinion, quality of life is better than in Mobile.
