Hey ya'll!

I'm a nursing student around Richmond, VA. After college I'd like to move deeper into the South and AL is one of my options. I have no clue what town though. Any suggestions?

Requirements
1. Not a city...more of a small town - friendly people, feel.

2. Good churches not too far. I'm Southern Baptist if that helps.

3. Good job opportunities in the Nursing/Health industry.

4. If the area had a high teen pregnancy rate, this would be awesome. I want to open my own Christian teen pregnancy center and I want to be a blessing to the area I move to.

Thanks so much!

BTW- When I said it would be 'awesome if the area had high teen pregnancy rates", what I meant was if the area has high teen preg. rates then my services would obviously be needed there. No reason to move to an area that my services aren't needed right? Teenage pregnancy being 'awesome' is not what I meant!

Do you prefer to be near the coast, or would you rather be in north Alabama near the mountains?

Either is fine. I'm pretty flexible.

#4 is the tricky part, because the areas that have the highest teen pregnancy rate are likely to be the least desirable to live.

Are you wanting to find work at a small town hospital, or are you wanting to commute to a larger hospital? It's harder to find work in the smaller hospitals and the pay is often less.

Research & visit Tuscaloosa - it has small town feel but also has a major university and hospital. It has a poor section and a wealthy section - you can research the teenage pregnancy rate. Birmingham is 50 miles away.

If the areas are bad that have high teenage pregnancy rates, are there any good areas around them? like 30 mins or so away?

& until I have enough money to start the clinic, I would take whatever job I could. Lol...so larger hospital and small hospitals will both work.

Well I know of several pregnant teens in Bay Minette (north Baldwin County) so maybe the rate is high, I really don't know. Bay Minette has a pretty nice hospital for a small town, and then there's the large hospitals in Mobile 45 minutes away.

The beaches are also 45 minutes away so that's a plus.
