MOBILE, Alabama -- It’s country boys against city slickers and you guys versus y’all. And at the center of the rivalry between the 20 young men is 20-year-old University of Alabama junior Devin Grissom, an attractive blonde who grew up in Cordova Tennessee, and loves SEC sports.
Grissom and the 20 young men will appear on a new reality show called “Sweet Home Alabama” — a Southern version of ABC’s “The Bachelorette.” The new show, filmed in Point Clear, will debut at 8 p.m. Thursday on Country Music Television.

Port City,

Thanks for the post. Yes, this area is unlike many others. The closest I've seen has been small coastal towns in Connecticut (ie Mystic Seaport), and it's a blessing to have found this beautiful place right here in Alabama. Did you see article in Family Circle I posted?

You would have done a better job posting it. I messed up to start with and had to re post. (Technodummie for sure!!) Lol!!!

So many who ask if there are children in Fairhope will have their answer by a reputable source for sure. I've had to defend that we are not just a "old folks" town as people might think. It's a great blend of young and old. Not much for young singles, zero nightlife but great for families.

Isn't someone on that show supposed to be from Robertsdale? I heard something about it on the radio this morning.

One of the guys is from Robertsdale. Should be fun seeing our area go national. I recognized one of the spots where Devin is seen riding a horse....a beautiful estate on Section Street/3 about 2 miles south of AL 32. It's a gorgeous place and will do our area proud.

I saw it, and even though it was not much to show, it came out OK. One guy from Hollywood left ASAP...could not stand the heat...LOL! This was filmed a few months ago, so if he came now, he'd die. The 2 sent home were also from California. I guess Devin did not click with these west coast boys.

Devin made a huge boo-boo, as she told this guy if one goes surfing in Mobile Bay, you can be bit by a crocodile...LOL!!! First, no such thing here, and she does not know difference between a croc and an alligator? Second, surfing in Mobile Bay? Did she not notice there are no waves? So she came off as a not so smart blonde....LOL!!

Exactly what I was leery of when this show was first announced... just another tv show going for the "redneck" angle they always portray the south to be, and as far as I'm concerned, another setback to the reality of what the city is actually currently all about now.

There is a good way to promote an area as well as a bad... and I cannot see this show promoting the City of Fairhope or the State of Alabama in a favorable light that will attract people to the area and all it has to offer from other states/countries in the future.

My .02 cents.
