We have to replace the very heavy sofa sleeper in our Gulf Shores rental condo (an elevated duplex) and I need to find a way to get rid of the old one; the metal frame broke and it's not in good enough shape to donate, sadly.

Are there any furniture stores in the area that will not only deliver a new sofa sleeper, but haul away the old one? (I love stores that do this when you buy a new appliance; seems rare or non-existent for furniture stores, though.) Otherwise, any suggestions as to companies that will haul it away without it costing a fortune? It is simply not possible for my husband and I to carry it downstairs and then to the corner where trash is picked up; I am tempted to heave it over the deck railing onto the gravel drive (if we could even get it that far), but that wouldn't go over well with the neighbors.

I joined Baldwin County Freecycle, but doubt anyone will want the sofa in its present condition.

Any and all suggestions welcome! Thanks.

Have you tried the Waterfront Rescue? They picked up a couch off my friends front lawn. Or, Salvation Army might pick up. Worth a shot?

Good suggestions; however, they want "gently used" things in "good condition", as donations are sold in their thrift stores these days, and the sofa sleeper wouldn't qualify, sadly. It would require welding and new upholstery.
