My father has Alzheimer's and needs constant care all day. My mother has some mild cognitive issues, but otherwise can take care of herself. They live with me, but while I am at work I need someone I can trust to care for them. Is there a reputable company in the area that someone could recommend? Do they take insurance? Any info would be helpful--

Amedisys is reputable but not sure if they provide care all day.

When my late MIL lived with us, we used Home Instead Senior Care (in Mobile, may well be in Baldwin County, too) and were very pleased. They were quite reasonable, and the lovely lady they sent was a gem. Best of luck to you - I know this is difficult.

I have a list of agencies that the hospital gave us upon discharge from a recent stay. If you still need numbers, let me know and I can give them to you privately.

I used Home Instead as well for over 3 years for my parents. Fairly satisfied, just need to
Make sure the person they send is good with your parents. Can get pretty pricey as well. I ended up having to use them for 24 hour care - cost was about $125,000 for a year.

I know the cost is crazy...had to use 24 hour care when my mother was in the hospital. -- Thank you for the advice.

I've also heard good things about Home Instead. I have a family member in the Mobile area that used them a few years ago. Also, just FYI, if you ever need it or if you are interested I provide in-home private speech therapy and accept BCBS. I worked in Nashville for about 4 years providing therapy at skilled nursing facilities. I've since traveled all over the country and have provided work at SNFs part time. Let me know if you'd like more information. Good luck in your search!
