Is anyone aware of a site that allows people to upload drawings or rendering of ideas, projects, developments, re-development in the Mobile area? I am from Mobile living in Atlanta now and although Mobile has turned some corners, it seems that the leadership in Mobile has a hard time seeing or imagining what things might look like. I think it would be interesting to see what some talented Mobilians and others imagine what:

1. The Civic Center was updated with new exterior panels, cool chrome roof and projected laser walls. That would be a good and fun venue to see a concert in. Take off part of the exterior and open it all up with glass.

2. Imagine some major art installations on Government Street, starting with renovating the War Memorial Park and adding large scale monuments and fountains.

3. A contest to Create a large/huge MOB art piece for the Mobile Regional Airport

4. An exterior renovation of the multi story regions bank building in the Bel Air Mall parking lot. Also a renovation of the Montlimar Place building.

It just seems like much of this is locked away in our minds and will not happen until we put it out there and then get officials, business and property owners interested in having pride in their property but also making Mobile a more "artistic" city.

Any ideas or thoughts? It would be kind of cool for the Mobile Press to run a competition for people to submit entries for maybe 10 ideas to get started off.

I'd love to contribute some ideas. You could try uploading your conceptual renderings to a site that supports hot linking, such as Photobucket.
