Hi all, my daughter will be attending Med school at South Alabama in the fall. None of us are very familiar with Mobile and are needing advice on area's to rent an apartment or house that would be located close to campus and also fairly convenient to the hospital. Looking for something in a safe area that she could find around $600 month and also allows pets. Any starting places to look would be much appreciated. Dale

hey i dont really know how much the student rent is at the 3-4 apartments right next too the campus. the few people i knew that stayed in them loved it and had no safety problems and USA has security over in the area. the closet hospital i guess the med school campus maybe providence. i would google aparments near USA or student housing near USA and try the apartment guides and have her talk to people in the offices at the school. they should have most info on housing for students

I have lived in Midtown for a long time and have had neighbors in Med School at South. Somewhere in the 36604 zip code would be good. It is very close to USA hospitals and clinics and within 15 minutes of campus.

Our daughter and son-in-law own a small home about 3-5 minutes west of the main USA campus, on a cul-de-sac with cute cottage-style homes, about 1300 sq ft., 3 br, 2 ba. They are currently renting it out to USA grad students, and I know that there are several homes there rented to med students. If she doesn't want to live in an apartment, and can come up with a roommate, this area might be a good option for her. (The homes rent for about $1200-$1300, utilities included.) I will PM you with the street name.

Best of luck!
