My husband and I are considering relocating to the Mobile area. We are looking at Saraland, Satsuma, and Semmes. Any feedback about which of these areas would be better is greatly welcome. Also, I have been trying to do some research on home owners insurance. Is it a lot more expensive to insure a house in that area? What is an average home owners insurance cost in that area?

Saraland would be the better option with Semmes as a close second. When you are below I-10 the insurance rates tend to be more expensive. My parents live in Semmes and they are paying 2k a year for insurance and it's no different than Saraland. I would recommend you to shop for a decent rate.

Welcome to Mobile !!!!!

So, we have been down and visited the area. I have a couple more questions :-) We do not have school aged children. It seems like there are some nice communities with Mobile mailing addresses. Any opinion on living in some of these areas. Also, I definitely see why they tell us many people decide to live in Spanish Fort. It is a very nice area. However, we are trying to decide if it is worth an extra 20 minutes drive to work. Any thoughts?

Yes Spanish Fort is nice and just as you mentioned there are nice areas in Mobile as well. What particular area of Mobile that caught your interest and where is your job located ?

The job is at AMNS Calvert. I don't have any one specific Mobile area narrowed down yet. Although we did like the homes on the golf course, near Magnolia grove.

Oh ok I see and that's a decent area to live it's nice and quiet. The skyline country club neighborhood off of hwy 90 is a nice area aswell with better interstate access. Grelot rd has some really nice subdivisions and neighborhoods.Solie Rd is a very nice areas but it may be a little farther but not as far as Spanish Fort.

If you guys are interested in a nice historic neighborhood I have a few suggestions for those as well.
