hello,

we are from out of town and looking to relocate to Mobile. we would like to start out in a small apartment or even house, closer towards the downtown area than not. there are many apartment residence complexes listed on Craigslist, but we are not really interested in living in one of those except as a very last resort. the difficulty seems to be that
a)nothing is open on the weekends when we are making trips down to Mobile
b)almost nothing is listed on Craigslist or other webistes that meet our criteria (not an apartment complex!)
c)those places that we have contacted, either via email or by telephone, do not really ever respond. either they do not call back, do not email forms, etc.

this is making the move very difficult. we don't live in Mobile yet, but would like to. we are within a 3 hour drive, and work during the week so usually drive down weekends.

how do natives handle renting? do they take time off from work to view apartments and discuss terms? is our problem that we are looking in the wrong place (mostly online, mostly Craigslist but also zillow, apartments.com, etc.)?

any tips would be very helpful.

signed, wanna-be Mobilians

usually, you have to make an appointment to view on weekends. however, it is best to view these apartments during the week. I would just call during their regular business hours and see if you can make an appointment during the weekend when you are down!
