I think they do, there’s tons of industrial and commercial buildings in Theodore, they could also use Theodore Dawes as their central business district

Yea thinking about it, Theodore looks to inherited both a Neighborhood Walmart and a Rouses which is more than what Chickasaw, Saraland, Satsuma, Citronelle, and Creole has/started with (also possibly a Greer’s if they are ambitious enough)

That area with Walmart and rouses is actually Tillman’s corner according to google earth, Theodore begins south of i10. MPD has a fairly new precinct in Tillman’s corner but I don’t know if that means anything. Personally I’d rather go the Huntsville route and not the Birmingham route if you know what I mean.

Yea curious how Mobile will react to it because if Theodore forms, Mobile will likely be completely cut off to the South. I imagine Theodore would be keen on annexing Bellefontaine and Fowl River given theses are growing areas of current Theodore and where the more wealthy live. I hope Theodore forms as a city, but I also hope this will be a wake up call for Mobile to start growing. With the incorporation of Semmes to the Northwest and now Theodore to the South, Mobile better get to hoppin before its too late

I hope they don't incorporate. I think it would be bad for the city, county, and the school system. I'm still not sure how feasible it is. Due to the new fire fees in Theodore, it would actually lower their tax bills to annex into Mobile for a lot of the subdivisions and houses in the area. They mention a supper large area that would basically be half of the current city of Mobile. That is a lot of rural folks that might not want to be apart of any city.

Plus, they focused on making a school district and used Saraland as an example. I don't know if it would pan out like Saraland. They poured a LOT of resources into the system and Saraland doesn't have the negative stereotype that Theodore does. Saraland is growing, but not at a crazy rate. Theodore could end up with a Satsuma or Chickasaw like system.... and no one would want that.

Isn't Satsuma doing well though? Could be wrong but thought I read where it was doing pretty good in terms of school ratings

Theodore encompasses a pretty big area, it goes as far out as Mon Louis Island. Theodore has the commercial resources to be self sufficient. I think this is a good idea, as a semi-recent graduate of MCPSS, the system really isn't good outside of say Baker and Davidson and is likely the biggest reason for the slowing development of Mobile and Mobile County. More Schools opting out of the system might be a good kicker for MCPSS to get its act together. I also think another city on Mobile's border will be a good kicker to start annexing land, plus I believe Mobile has no intentions in annexing any land from Theodore
