Is Baldwin County still growing at a good pace?

It's slowed down some due to the economy. However, there is still newness and once things settle down across the US it will be booming again!

Construction of new homes slowed down quite a bit, but sales of existing homes are picking up . There are new shopping centers still being built all over Baldwin. It is still one of the best places to live in the southeast, and should continue to grow.

anyone know roughly what the property taxes and (more importantly i bet) homeowner's insurance would cost for a home valued at $350,000 in the Montrose/Fairhope area, not right on the water but about 3-5 miles inland?

diggs,

In Montrose you can't get too far inland, because it is a very narrow area, starting at the Bay and going into 98.
We are downtown Fairhope, home valued at about $500,000 and pay $1,600. (We have very low taxes here). Our insurance is $2,069, and we are 1.5 miles from the bay. If you are farther in, and it is a newer home, your insurance should not be too high.

The homes are selling at much lower prices than a few years ago. This is really a great time to buy. My husband is in the business and there is a lot of movement in the last couple of months. Great buys out there! Good luck!

The new fishing pier in Gulf Shores is finally done and will be open to the public on July 23. There's an article in todays paper sports section with specifics, should be a good place to go for those who like to fish.

They also said the new Publix opened today in Fairhope, which I think people will like the great variety of foods, and an excellent Deli/Bakery depts. Good breads and Boars Head Meats. Closest to New York style as you can get. Enjoy !
