The way the economy is today you need to have a job lined up before you move anywhere. The recession down here hasn't been as bad as MI, but it's still quite noticeable and competition is tough.

It depends. Do you have 4-6 months of living expenses saved up just in case? That is my rule of thumb before moving without a sure job. On a side note (read your other thread) there are not many positions in Mobile that deal with your occupation (it's far, far from a white-collar city). There will be a few, but you might just have to go with whatever you can get at first and then start looking for what you want.

Maybe that was a little too strong of a way to put it ... but yes, as in there are not really any huge companies with numerous IT positions, design positions, project management, etc. There will of course be some of those type jobs, just harder to find. Plenty of work in health care and education though.

Personally, I would find the job first. YES, the fact that you live in MI is going to be a problem. However; you are going to have a problem either way, so I guess... choose.

Well, just a shot in the dark here, but have you tried any contract firms? By contract firms I mean Temporary, temp to perm etc? If you have degree in the tech field, engineer, MFG, etc. Should find something, Im not promoting any entity but if you will email me, can give you some links that might help you out
