I'm movin down sometime this week. I've spent time in Tillmans Corner and not noticed it to be scary. Prichard on the other hand was REALLY scary. Interesting to see the same gangs there as in another "unnamed" city.

Been searching around and I like the clear generic presentation this link gives for population and crime statistics for every city in the nation. Stats only through 2008, but here is Mobile:

Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitor sites is not allowed

Shows a steady downward trend in violent crime and property crime since 2001. That is good. We are at 480 per 100k, which is alot lower than many other cities ... and lower than Birmingham and Huntsville. The disturbing part of the otherwise good news is the murder rate, even though violent crimes overall are lowering. Currently around 22 per 100k (although I think that lowered in 2009). Still, that is high when compared to other cities.

If we can just stop killin' people, Mobile will be a decently safe place again statistically lol.

Yes thank God !! I`ve heard of some violent places such as little Haiti in Miami,Brooklyn and the Bronx, 8 and 7 mile Detroit,SWATS in Atlanta or Bankhead,9th and 7th Ward in New Orleans, West side of Montgomery,West End and Ensly areas of Birmingham,East LA and the Inglwood area ,and ect. I don`t think any area is as dangerous as Prichard Alabama !!! In 2009 that city had 18 murders and 4 other murders that were unruled or undisclosed(they couldn`t say if it was a homocide or not). So Prichard really had a total of 22 murders from my point of view with a population of only 28,000 now that is tough !!!!! Prichard is the most dangerous city in Alabama and one of the most dangerous in the country hands down !!!
