Lots of nice whitetail bucks in the yard here, morning and evening throughout the latter half of the season.

But 'here' is on the Flathead Indian Reservation, and, though we pay taxes on our land because we are not Tribal members, we are not allowed to harvest from the varmints that eat our gardens and orchards.

Not meant as a complaint - we knew the rules when we bought the place. It is a bit frustrating at times, such as when other responsibilities make it impossible to get away for a hunting trip off the 'Rez - as was the case this year. Didn't even buy a tag knowing I wouldn't be going after any critters.

Strange weather for the hunting season. Not enough cold and snow until about the last 10 days. Right now we've got a little over 2 feet - more where the winds drifted it up. Way over our average depth for this time of year, and many more heating days in November than average also.

We call that 'Life in the Slow Lane' and embrace it thoroughly!

I got a nice 6X7 bull this year.. Kind of nice because work has kept me too busy during hunting season for the last 3. Sheer dumb luck as to how I stumbled onto the bull. That's a story for the porch.

Hope to have pics up soon, but having a hard time finding my camera as we are still unpacking.

My hubby ended up with a nice 6 point bull and my son got his first cow elk-there were so many elk coming out of the park the last 10 days. As long as you were willing to brave the cold, snow and wind, you had an excellent chance of bagging an elk
