I don't know anything firsthand about this particular group, but I'm all for shrinking our increasingly cancerous government!

Everything I have seen about it seems to indicate it went pretty well. No riots, no marching on the capitol, (the left did that on Monday), Some pretty big names and national figures showed up.

All I have heard seems to indicate a pretty good convention with no major problems.

I didn't expect any, but you never know these days.

Maybe we should start a Montana branch of the Pirate Party. (The main tenets are copyright reform, personal privacy, and transparency in government. It's become a registered party in several countries, including Canada, with several local candidates elected in Europe.)

Well you would have to actually live in Montana to do that.

Screw the pirate party, they can stay the heck out of this state as far as I'm concerned. The tea partiers should also realize that if they put up a Ron Paulish candidate, the non democratic vote will be split and the liberal candidates that the Democrats produce will get elected with a non majority vote.
That is about as bad as having only one name on a ballot and does not serve the will of the majority very well.
The tea party should be a steering entity for the republican party and push the hard line stuffy unelectable old school republicans out while also keeping the "lightning rod" Sara Palin types at bay too. The republican party needs to shake it up if they don't want to become a thing of the past.
We must remember that the boomers are starting to drop like flies and the young folks of today are decidedly a bit left of center.
Time for a wake up call.
