Hi!
A little bit about myself- I'm from the east coast, 25 years old, and looking to relocate to Missoula, Montana. It probably won't be a permanent move, but at least for 2 years time. I've visited 3-4 times (Kalispell, Missoula, Bozeman) and stayed for more than 2 weeks each trip. Unfortunately, one of my concerns (my boyfriend does not see the big deal) is finding an African American/Latin hair salon in ANY part of Montana. It'd be a shame to travel to somewhere like Seattle, WA for that purpose whenever needed.
I've read through other posts, asked around a tiny bit- trying to find answers (while also using google) but have been unsuccessful thus far. I don't need an ENTIRE hair salon catered to ethnic hair but perhaps just 1 or 2 stylists that have good experience with African American hair in any salon? I'm not quite sure that I'll be able to find this but I figured that I'd give it a shot here anyway! Thanks so much in advance!!

I googled "African American Hair Salon Missoula Montana" and got 8 hits on the first page that specifically advertise "African American Services".
So you shouldn't have any problems.

Thanks for responding! I've actually done that too a few times and what happens is-- it sends you to a few websites that are hair salons but not actually what I am looking for. BELIEVE me, if it were that easy-- I wouldn't be posting for help, hehe.

There isn't, to my knowledge, an African-American salon in Missoula but we do have a lot of salons in general, so I would think you'd be able to find someone. You can go to
Beauty and Spas Missoula and see info and reviews for lots of different places.

It was a long time ago, but they may still have one in the mall in Great Falls. Businesses come and go, but you could call and check.

The reason for not finding African American Hair Salons is that the African American population in Montana at only about 0.3% of a low population state, does not supply enough population for a minority population hair salon as in the bigger cities, and some other parts of the country.

Even so, she shouldn't have an issue finding a beautician who knows how to do black hair, even if, she has to shop around a little. Particulary, along the younger hair stylists, it's not as hard to find someone, since just about all beauty schools teach it, even all of the students are white.
