Hello, Thank you in advance for any information/advice anyone can give us on these property management companies in the Bitterroot Valley area.

My husband, daughter and myself are relocating to either Corvallis or Hamilton early February of 2012. We have been relentlessly stalking all of the housing rentals in both areas and most all of them are affiliated with one type of property management place or another. We are praying that we can have residency established very soon so we can count on a home to move into. I'm sure you all know if you don't rent way ahead of time everything is taken. Here's our situation: We are looking for a nice, affordable 2+ bedroom house to rent. We would love to be on the outskirts of town if possible. Not right on top of our neighbor if that makes sense. Most of these mgment places do credit checks/our credit isn't that great due to a bankruptcy not too long ago. Is there anyway they will work w/us. We are decent, honest small town folks who are trying to rebuild our lives. Any advice would be appreciated. Do not want to waste our hard earned money for application fees if they are just going to deny us due to that one factor.

Thanks so much again.

In looking for a rental in Bozeman, we experienced the "African scammers" on craigs list.

There were a couple great properties with photos at good prices. The e-mail response was along the lines of "had to move out of state for work, looking for God-fearing renters to take care of the house", etc. I responded back to one asking for more info and instead was asked for my social security numbers for a credit check.

Double check any agencies to make sure they are legit. Get a live person on the phone and if still unsure, call the better business bureau and chamber of commerce.

Yes, I am familiar with the scammers on Craigslist. After reading a few posts on the forum about them, I decided to stay away from them craigslist altogether. My hubby contacted a management place and hopefully they will work with us. Haven't even gotten to the app. part. I'm praying that anyone with any information about these places can be of help to us. I guess what I'm asking is what these property management places look for that will definitely be a reason for denial, other than criminal history I mean.
Thank you so much for the headsup on scammers.
