Can anyone give me any (or as much as possible) information on what it would be like to live in the Ashland area, or at least in Rosebud County? I potentially have a very interesting job in the region, but I know very little of that part of Montana (I've visited the Western part of the state) and I'm curious as to what life is like out there. Sorry to be brief and I don't mean to come off as ignorant; I just don't even know where to start.

Ashland is not an incorporated town. It is just a wide spot on Highway 212. Ashland itself is pretty rough around the edges. I would not consider living in town desireable.
Ashland has a post office, bank, medical clinic, church, very small grocery stores, gas station, propane dealer, and three bars. It is right on the Tongue River which is the border for the Northern Cheyenne Reservation. St Labre Indian School campus is just down the river and few miles beyond that an Amish colony. Part of Rosebud County is part of the reservation. If you have something in particular you would like to ask, I may be more helpful.

Ashland sits on the Northern Cheyenne reservation. I would not live on a reservation under any circumstances due to the crime and poverty. This area is also extremely remote.
