I am moving to Billings within a week.
As soon as I get my things and tools together.
It is just me and my dog.
Is there a place to camp around Billings until I find a place that will take my dog?
I could give him away, and it would probably make my life easier, but I have had him 5 years
can't see not having him around.
I have two job offers there so work is an issue.
I have been a painter for 30 years.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

There are a lot of campgrounds around Billings, for example: Yellowstone River RV Resort & Campground
Just google Campgrounds in Billings Mt and you will find several.

There are campgrounds in abundance around the state, Billings is outside the oil patch, so there are spaces available, just give them a call.

Good Luck

Thank you for the answer.
But if you will read their web site, NO PETS.

My post was explicit, I HAVE A DOG!

The only part I read was the cabin rental.
No dogs in the cabins, no dogs outside the cabins, no dogs in the vehicles.
I do not a motor home.
It will be tent camping.
I guess they do not allow them unless you keep them in a motor home.
I am checking on a day camp for him now.
If I can afford it!
I was thinking about public access property for a few nights.
I can shower at the truck stop until I can find a place that will take Buddydog.

Do you really need to camp? There should be enough rentals that take pets in the area to be able to find a home for you and fido.

Put an ad in the Billings Gazette and the Thrifty Nickel classifieds for "Wanted to rent" and describe your needs, including having a dog.

Advertise with the Billings Gazette

Billings Thrifty Nickel Want Ads

Rental owners find you, and it will save a lot of time and hassle.

Hope that helps.

Yes,
I have an ad on Craigslist now.
The prices there seem to be high for rentals.
I have been in a very small town in Arkansas for the last 12 years and money is tight.
I am moving to Billings for work, there is none here.
I will have to decide where I need to stay according to my job.
This is all new to me.
I just really don't want to have to find buddy a new home.
I have had him since he was 5 weeks old.
Maybe a lower cost motel for a few weeks?
Are there any there?
I know absolutely nothing about Billings.
I did a search of the Gazette, I do not have two months rent and a deposit at the price of the rentals I saw.
I just have to do what ever it takes.

That's why I suggested that You take out a classified ad, "Wanted to Rent", in the papers, not just on Craigslist.
Not everyone in Montana is on the internet or uses Craigslist even if they are on the internet.
But, reaching out in multiple ways to get the attention of rental owners is important.
Can your employer help?
Yes, there are lower cost motels, and there are communities on the edge of Billings where you could live.
Look into Laurel, Lockwood, and surrounding area.
That's part of doing whatever it takes.

Hope that helps.

I absolutely agree.
And I have contacted three places and I do think that one place can find me an apartment.
I have to pay them a fee, but it is not too much.
I think there are people there to help me and this will work just fine.
Thanks so much for your help, you have guided me in the right direction.
Which is exactly what I was asking for.
Thank you so much.
I would love to set and have a cup of coffee with you and pick your brain on other things.
Really, you have led me to places I knew not.
But you have given me a bit of education.
