Well, it appears that I will have employment in Hamilton. Currently looking at rentals but will eventually buy. That said, are there any property management companies in Ravalli or Missoula Counties to steer clear of? I'm looking to make this transition as painless as possible.

Thanks in advance for any information.

Thanks to those that responded. Pick up the rental truck and car trailer tomorrow, pack the weekend and hit the road Monday. Still deciding the route from Southern Colorado and just hoping the weather holds!

If you're pulling a trailer this time of the year you are better off going straight north on I-25 to I-90 then west to Missoula and south on Highway 93. You could hit snow at any time. This route you have interstate all the way except the last 45 miles and only cross the continental divide once just east of Butte, MT.

Default Cardinal Properties

MtnHiker, I can recommend a Hamilton-based property management company to steer towards: Cardinal Properties. We've lived in Hamilton for nearly two years, and chose to rent through Cardinal just last month. I believe my wife and I were both approved about 5 days after applying; exceptionally quick in my experience. Staff is prompt and friendly, and the website is user-friendly with a consistent supply of rentals throughout the valley.

It's nice to see Kmart integrating a pharmacy option. Signs announcing its arrival have been around for some time now. The retail staff is always helpful, and one of our church members works there. I think you'll enjoy the experience!

Let me be among the first to welcome you to our city. Have a safe drive in, and enjoy the now snow-capped Bitterroots!

State of Montana Road Condition Map
This is the road conditions website at Montana traveler information. Check it frequently to avoid surprise bad roads. For example yesterday at my house it was sunshiny about 52 and lovely..120 miles away near Billings it was snowing, by Reed Point was icy, from Belgrade to the West on I90 was black ice. If road is bad ahead, stay at a hotel. The next day travel conditions can be remarkably different.

Thanks much for the welcome RogueYak! I needed something quickly and found a place on a month-to-month basis. I will likely be looking for something longterm and will look at Cardinal.

As to the drive, I did choose the I-25 to I-90 route out of Cheyenne. Had thought about I-80, I-84, I-15 route but weather was bad the night before I left Cheyenne. Unfortunately, the first 40-50 miles out of Cheyenne was solid ice and the requisite Wyoming winds- numerous rolled vehicles. Driving a U-Haul and towing car was white-knuckle experience. Made it though and settling into Hamilton. Looking forward to starting the job Monday.

Don't forget to go to Naps Grill for the best hamburger EVER. Second block of N 2nd Street. Try to imagine the place as a blacksmith shop it was in the 1960's.

Anderson - Already been to Naps (outstanding burger!) as I had been there before and needed something while I was unpacking. Have already hit Bitterroot and Higherground Breweries for dinner as well.
