Is this for the whole State of Montana or is it only a local law?
Hollowpoint bullets have been banned in San Francisco and there is an ordinance coming up requiring all residents who own long arms to look them up separately from ammunition in your own house. Also there are no longer any gun stores in San Francisco.

It's local and holds no force outside of Missoula city limits. It's so pointless that all the residents of the city have to do to get around it is drive to city limits, make the exchange and then drive back into town perfectly legally.

The attorney general has already told them it is against the state Constitution, but they are the liberal bastion of the state and don't pay too much attention to laws or Constitutional rights there.

It's even cropped up in the gubernatorial campaign. The Republican is flat saying it's against the law, the democrat is even being pulled into saying it's against the law.

Montanan's don't look on gun control very favorably. The surest way for most politicians to lose in an election here is to promote gun control.

Whew now that's was a close one. It is sort of like fireworks are illegal in SF but you can go outside the city limits to buy them and bring them back in too explode them.

At least Billings, Kalispell, Bozeman are free of this as well as the rest of Montana.

Here the governor has already signed that everyone must have a background check to buy ammo and there will be no more purchases through the mail. This will only jack up prices for regular citizens who shoot. The criminals will still have their guns. Being a citizen here will make you into a criminal per these stupid laws.

If you think land is less expensive in Montana than Texas, double check the formulas on your spreadsheet.
Formulas on my spreadsheet? The land value per acre in Texas is 3 times higher than Montana and it will be the fastest growing state in the country by 2020. People spend big $$$ on land there and the land that is by most standards cheap is repulsive to most of the east coasters moving there. Its desert or grassland near a ghost town with no creature comforts for quite a ways. Most of the people ive met moved there for the glamour of big city life and they'll spend a fortune on a half acre 30 miles from Austin. Thats "rural" and its where you'll find a lot of land for sale. 96% of the state is private land and youll notice most of West Texas, huge patches, have no land for sell at all. Thats because a good percentage of private land in Texas are huge ranches, think King Ranch, and most of them have been family owned since the 19th century. Those families make a bloody fortune and have maintained big contracts with the state for beef, produce etc. So they are not put on the market and sold near as much as you see in other agricultural states. I noticed a lot of areas in Montana, like Helmville, are experiencing just that. The original ranch owner passed away and the family just doesnt want to deal with it. So it gets sold, subdivided and diced into 20 acre lots. My uncle had a hunting buddy outside of Billings whos family did the same thing when he died. His children had long since moved out of state and didnt want to operate a 1,000 acre farm. So they sold it to someone who just bought it outright and chopped it up into parcels to be resold for a profit. Pissed off the locals for sure. But that is why most of the land in Texas is so expensive. Its near the big cities and if you want 20 acres with a scenic view then you will pay through the nose.

I can tell you we were 50 miles outside of Houston and a 1 acre lot in our "neighborhood" went for 30k. No utilities. There are cheaper areas outside Houston like those near a prison or flood plains for cheaper. This is a pretty average price for the distance, some acreage is considerably higher.

When we looked in Katy about 5 years ago, a 300k house had a 12k/yr tax bill. Homeowners would probably run 4k/yr on that property. My friend lives in that neighborhood and she said they're bringing in Syrian Refugees now. I'm not sure how that may or may not impact the home prices.

This is so true.
But they are making the citizens into criminals just by possession of firearms that have a pistol grip, flash suppressor or a magazine larger than 10 rounds.
Those ridiculous bullet button guns in California have now been banned.

That is the second sentence of the video summary: "HBO John Oliver Shows Failures of Credit Reports, Background Checks". It is about the failures of both and the unreliability of basing real world decisions on faulty systems.
