Redraven, my guess is that it doesn't get as cold in E. Washington as it does in MT and ID. Am I right?

Thank you for posting.

It's 42 in Spokane right now, 19 in Red Lodge, 29 in Billings, 55 in Boise, and 43 in Rexburg. And 76 in Sacramento.

According to my antique mercury filled high/low thermometer, the low last night was 7 degrees below zero.
Come to think of it, I need to reset it so it will show the lowest temp overnight tonight.
I better go do that...

Do they still have the Separatist Movement? The East side wants to separate from the West side? That is due to the Seattle/Tacoma area (all up and down the West Coast, in fact) controlling the whole state. Many who live on the East side don't like that. Of course, the separation probably will never happen.
As for taxes, what is the WA sales tax rate now? Has it reached 10% yet? If not, give it time, it will eventually, as those in the Sea/Tac area demand more and more "free" government programs, and Olympia bends to their will.
There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch (TANSTAAFL). Somebody has to pay for those giveaway programs! ALL Governments live on tax revenue! When expenses exceed revenue, taxes must eventually go up. If YOUR revenue (wages/salary) does not go up, too bad, so sad, pay your taxes and shut up.
Yes, filing state income tax forms is a pain, but I would rather do that than pay exorbitant sales taxes!

I'm glad that more and more Americans are itching for a tax revolt.

I estimate that I pay about 40% of my income in taxes between Federal, State, SS, Medicare, Property, Sales, and then on top of that I pay taxes on any dividends or capital gains I may have which were bought with money that I earned and was already taxed upon.

Most Americans seem to be in similar circumstances. WA has no state income tax, but everyone still pays federal and then if you want to buy anything you pay nearly 10%. $10 on a $100 purchase is STEEP. Other states have similar problems: Texas for example has enormous property taxes in most areas, and ditto for much of the Midwest and New England on top of already high taxes everywhere else. Cali? Forget it, it's gone.

TANSTAAFL!
I think that should be posted everywhere. on walls, on bumper stickers, on magazine covers, EVERYWHERE!
People (taxpayers) must be reminded constantly that in reality There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch!
When somebody says "I am from the Government, and I'm here to help you; you can have (whatever) FREE!" run away.
NOTHING that the Government "gives" you is FREE. The Government only has the money that they took (stole) from TAXPAYERS!
Anything that you get from Government, be it Local, City, County, State, or Federal, was paid for by TAXPAYERS. When you spend what the Government gave you, you are paying taxes. In effect, you are paying yourself for the freebie you just got!
When a candidate promises "free" anything, be smart; laugh at him/her. SOMEBODY must pay for it, and it won't be the candidate from their own pockets! WE will be the payers!
