What can anyone tell me about Sun Prairie, MT? I'm wondering about the average price of homes, crime rate, friendly people, size of school and town. Also, if there aren't any teaching jobs here, how far would the drive be to reach one?

No responses so I'll dive in...

Sun Prairie isn't much of a town, but it's just a few miles from Great Falls, which when I was growing up there, had the best schools in the nation. (Judging by BDahl's posts, it still does.) GtF has a couple major high schools, several middle schools, lots of elementary schools. I don't know what the teacher market is there now, but when I was in school (pre-1972), there was almost no turnover -- we had GOOD teachers and they all stayed put for years and years. Likely a reflection of a relatively stable economic envionment, neither growthy nor boom/bust.

Sun Prairie is just a short 5 minute drive from here.

Great Falls, Montana does indeed have "the best schools" in the entire state.
And yes, it's mostly due to our local economic stability, and as a result....teachers come... teachers stay...

Great Falls, Montana has always been pretty organized and has handled it's growth in stride. Many of the concepts, that might be related to growth at large, from years ago, are still practiced today.

Kids stayed in school, too ... in my GFHS class (1972) there were about 570 kids, and, count them, just TWO dropouts, both in their final quarter. Says something about the quality of life and education there.

Thank you so much for your info. Up until now, I thought no one had ever heard of Sun Prairie. My interest in this town was because of a job opening for my spouse as a rural water system manager. That no longer has any significance in my search for a relocation. I appreciate your comments though. I may look into the Great Falls area. I am a Math teacher and I'm not one to move around. I've only lived in one town my whole life and have been teaching in the same school district since I started teaching 10 years ago, but the deep south climate is pushing me North!
