O.K. I have been doing a little bit of looking around about the populations of Shelby, Cut Bank, and Conrad. I live in Shelby and the pop. is appx. 3400. Conrad is listed at 2540, and Cut Bank at 3125. All of these are based on 2007.

Too me, Shelby seems the smallest of all three of these towns, yet it supposedly has the highest population among the three. Cut Bank seems a lot busier when I go there(I know: the reservation!), and Conrad just seems a little bigger than Shelby.

I guess my question is this: Do the inmates at the prison count in the population of Shelby? If so, it would actually mean that there are about 2800 people in Shelby, which would make a pretty big difference.

Anyways, I know it's a stupid topic, but I have an interest in this sort of thing, and I have wondered this since we got here in the summer.

I'm thinking that the Shelby population statistics do include the prison population but I'm not sure of that. I know that my other town (Hot Springs) is listed at between 500 and 600 depending on who's is providing the info. Hot Springs population in the town limits are about 382 or close. The 500 to 600 figure includes tourists and the valleys ranch population.
