I am a twenty-something coming from the Sacramento Valley and was wondering what its like to live around Soledad/ Monterey County and vicinity... What are the good parts of town suitable to live in... Any good neighborhoods? What is the nightlife like? What are some things to do besides going to the Aquarium? Any tips, pointers are appreciated!

"Life" and "Soledad" are mutually exclusive terms.
Is this something you "have to" do?

If you're talking about Monterey, there's boating, hiking, eating at restaurants, visiting the old houses downtown, biking, etc...

A good friend and his wife lived in Soledad in 2002-2004. They bought one of those large-ish new subdivision homes on the north side of town. It was actually quite nice, the neighborhood was attractive, clean and quiet. I stayed with them numerous weekends during that couple years, and I can safely say there is nothing much to do in Soledad. They went to Salinas for almost everything. About the only things there are a couple of fast food restaurants, a bowling alley/pizza joint combo, a couple of taquerias, a panaderia and a few bars catering to the farm workers. Its physically in a pretty setting, but the town is a boring pit.

We lived in the Monterey area, but loved fishin' & campin' at Naciemiento Lake, San Antonio Lake, Hunter Liggett ponds. We spent much time at Arroyo Seco also, Miller's Lodge, Fred's Camp, Government Camp, The Gorge, etc.

The folks i knew in Soledad, worked at the prison mostly.
