I know the air quality right now is terrible due to the Big Sur fire but I was wondering why Monterey air quality is not tracked by any of the air quality websites.

Is there a site I can go to to see current AQ?

I did find a page for "Monterey Peninsula" on airnow.gov but it is not accurate for Monterey. It shows as good and after being there for the past 2 days I know it's covered in smoke.

AIRNow

I would like to see some data to compare.

Can't find anything but a rather vague scale on the Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District site. I never really worried about it when I lived there - I knew it was one of the better places in the state and the country most of the time (save for a fire event like you're experiencing now). I would give just about anything to live there again! The air in the Sacramento Valley is so foul much of the year (fireplace smoke, wild fires, rice farmers burning stubble in the fall, etc...).

Just odd that Monterey AQ is not tracked like every other city in the country.

I have to wonder, why?
