Hello!
My husband and I are moving to the Monterey area by the end of the month! I'm moving from IL, he is already out there looking at places. A lot of them do not include utilities. I was wondering if anyone had an estimate how much they usually run? It's just the two of us, plus two cats. Also, we noticed it's hard to find places that allow pets. A few apartment complexes do, but one that was reasonably priced stood us up when they were going to show the place, then never called back... If anyone has any advice we would appreciate it!

Have you checked the military housing in places like La Mesa? I know many military families who like the housing available to them here. Sometimes you have to wait for the right one to open up. But at least for some I know it is worth the wait.

Most apartments don't want animals for obvious reasons. But there are some which will take them. There is no special advice I can think of there. It just depends on the owners' policies. So the more you look the better your odds. I guess if you found a place with a yard, your likelihood 'may' go up.

I had a 2/1 single family home in PG. With two of us it was ~$30 a month for water and $60 a month for PG&E (gas and electric). Your mileage may vary, of course.
