Is Santa Cruz as cool and foggy as San Francisco? Thank you.

Not at all. Compare the historical weather data on wunderground, for instance.

I've had trouble accessing historical weather data, and anyway I wanted replies from people who actually spent time there. Thanks.

I've spent many many years in both. Just go to wunderground.com if you want to find historical data so you can compare month to month in each place.

You're welcome.

No, both Santa Cruz and Monterey are generally warmer, less foggy and windy than coastal SF. However, with the latest changes in weather even SF is warmer than usual. This Summer will be interesting as last Summer had very little fog. Just keep in mind this is all on a relative scale. If you are coming from even warmer locations like AZ, FL, HI, or even SoCal then SC and Monterey are cooler than those locations, but not terribly so. It becomes very relative for our fair weathered friends and weather connoisseurs. While I'm from SoCal, I love the weather up here - 60s - low 70s on average. Its perfect for things I enjoy doing outdoors. Yet I know some who find it too 'cold.' They start to 'freeze' if the temps ever drop below low 60s or the wind picks up which it does on occasion. So different strokes for different folks.

And Santa Cruz and county tend to be less foggy and just a bit warmer. Coastal Aptos tends to be more foggy although the last few? (i'm losing track) summers have been relatively fog-less in S.C. county.
I like the fog.
Although they've recently (last summer i think) detected mercury in the fog so that's disturbing. They say the amounts are harmless but i do wonder about the accumulative effects and haven't had that concern / question answered to my satisfaction yet.
