Its good to see. Its time to see Suncrest start attracting more "higher end" stores and restaurants. There is already a good collection, but nothing that would seperate it from any other shopping center in the area. Outlet type stores would work too.

Apparently they have tenants lined up but aren't yet disclosing who they are.

It was in yesterday's paper that a large law firm is moving into Suncrest. Also, WVU Physicians are putting a large urgent care facility in there some place. Medical care is an up and coming thing in Morgantown. It is in growth mode because it is picking up a lot of new western PA business with the completion of the Mon Fayette Expressway.

I've actually been throwing this very idea around recently. At Morgantown's current state of growth, it seems like now would be the perfect time to introduce upscale stores and restaurants to the market. Suncrest Towne Centre is looking ripe for these sort of developments for a number of reasons. First of all, it's in a really convenient location, sitting along Morgantown's busiest highway, WV 705. Thousands of professionals drive by it everyday while travelling from their condos and McMansions at Cheat Lake to their jobs at Ruby Memorial, Mon General, Mylan, NIOSH, and WVU. Also, keep in mind that this is the route that all the East Coasters take into town when they come to drop off little Vinny at Towers or come in for football and basketball games. With all that said, it also has direct, easy access to the greater downtown area via Stewartstown Road, which is seldom congested. Rural plots are rapidly becoming suburban tracts in that area. Suncrest Towne Centre is almost completely surrounded by new developments like the Suncrest Village condos across the highway which are currently undergoing an expansion that looks like it could very well double the number of buildings in that development. While the current occupants of STC are not upscale (mostly average chain restaurants and boutiques), I don't see any of them really deterring higher end development from occurring. If anything, a shiny new Kroger and Hilton Garden Inn should attract them! I guess all we can do is wait and see..

So Suncrest Village is expanding. I wasn't sure if the grading on the hill was part of their development or an independent venture. In any event, I agree that it's about time some higher-end retail comes to town. I mean, I can't afford it, but there are many relatively affluent people visiting or working/living in town, and it would really help to enhance the perception of Morgantown that it is more than just a bunch of drunk college kids everywhere.
