Let's hope that the team in Morgantown has a strong sounding nickname, nothing that is too cartoonish or even run of the mill, with team colors that establishes their own identity.

...exactly. I wouldn't mind a name like "Hill Toppers" or "Grizzlies". Please nothing like "Montgomery Biscuits".

The franchise has the name "Jammers", but I don't know if they would keep that name of not. They are a Pirates affiliate.

Kind of like a play on words, there use to be a hockey team in the NHL, the Hartford Whalers, named after New England's prestigious whaling Industry. So now we will have Morgantown Shalers, named after the prestigious Marcellus Shale gas industry. Kind of similar to the WV Power. I think it would be a excellent choice, not cartoonish, relevant, catchy. I'm sure we could have a pretty cool mascot too.

Just noticed Wheeling' minor league hockey team is the Nailers, Named after Wheeling's storied nailing history.

True. Unfortunately, the fabled LaBelle Nail Works in Wheeling, open for much more than a century, closed a few years ago victim to elitist financial manipulation in their ceaseless quest for cheap labor. The same thing is going on today except the folks running the show are trying to put some sort of "humane" label on the thing by calling it reform. They just change the words depending on who is in office at the monent.

IF the Pirates remain the MLB affliate, and staying with the pirate theme, how about the Morgantown Cabin Boys?
