Keep in mind, the NY-Penn League is a "short A" league, they start play in June and play 82 games, so 41 games will be home.
That basically fits perfectly with the college schedules for WVU and Fairmont State that will use the facility during other times. Penn State has a similar arrangement with a team in State College. In addition, the stadium can be utilized for additional community events like concerts, American Legion baseball, high school tournaments and the like. There will be many groups in our region that will benefit from it, and it will help stimulate retail trade, restaurants, and hotel occupancy during normally slow times during the year.
While the Morgantown Marauders has a nice sound to it, the Pittsburgh affliated in the Florida State League is the Bradenton Marauders. So I don't think there will be two teams with the same nickname.
I think the odds are that the team will have a nickname that ties into the coal industry or something like that with the history of the State. I would prefer a name that is original and/or related to baseball. Just because the team is located within WV doesn't mean the nickname has to tie into the State or some aspect of the State's history.

Reason: addition
Miners
Coal Sox
Pioneers (since it's similar to Mountaineers)
Bucks (with a deer stag-like logo; hunting a huge WV activity, plus if the team is an affiliate of the Pirates, a play on their "Bucs" nickname)
Given that most of the shale drillers and oil folk are generally companies from out of state, and their employees are taking their money back home to texas with them, I'm not quite sure WV should be celebrating the fact that yet another industry is extracting wealth from our land, making a mess in some cases, and not giving anything back except in the form of revenue for hotels owned by other out of state corporations.
